Meet Ashley

Some people walk into a room and instantly make it feel warmer — Ashley is one of those people. Whether she's welcoming a nervous first-timer or catching up with a regular, she brings the kind of genuine warmth that makes Formation feel like a place you belong. This week, we're handing her the mic.

What’s a class you’d take at Formation if you weren’t working and why? My first love at Formation is Freedom. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Freedom is the most fun you’ll ever have doing cardio. I’ve never been a runner, and I’ve tried a lot of different workout classes over the years, but Freedom is the one I always come back to. The music, the energy in the room, and the feeling of moving without overthinking it make it such a joy. It’s the kind of workout where you forget you’re even exercising because you’re having such a good time.

What’s a TV show, podcast, or playlist you’re currently obsessed with? I’m a big fan of Rotten Mango by Stephanie Soo. She has this amazing ability to balance a bubbly, engaging personality with some of the wildest true crime stories out there. Her storytelling is incredibly compelling, and she covers cases from all over the world, from well-known headlines to lesser-known stories. Once you start listening, it’s very hard to stop.

On the lighter side, I also love Royal Court by Brittany Broski. She first went viral as “Kombucha Girl,” but now she’s interviewing celebrities and bringing a completely new energy to press tours. The show is set in a medieval-inspired court, with guests playing along in the bit while still having surprisingly genuine conversations. It’s chaotic in the best way and genuinely hilarious.

If there’s a recommendation you want to share with the community, what is it?

My most recent snack discovery is PlantUp’s Garlic Parmesan Puffs. If you’re a fan of Cheetos, these are a fun alternative. They have that same cheesy, crunchy vibe but with a little protein boost. Each serving has about 13 grams of protein, so it’s a great option if you want something snacky while still feeling like you’re fueling your day.

What’s something you’re currently learning or working toward outside of work?

Lately, my TikTok algorithm has been deep in the world of Feng Shui. I’ve been especially enjoying the work of Cliff Tan, who makes the principles really approachable and practical. I’m currently listening to his book Feng Shui Modern on Spotify. I love thinking about how spaces function, how they feel, and how small changes can create better energy in a home. Organization, intentional design, and good vibes are always the goal.

What’s one thing you wish every first-timer knew before walking in?

This is your permission to be the most un-serious version of yourself. Come in with an open mind, try something new, and don’t worry about getting everything perfect. The best part of the experience is letting go, laughing at yourself, and enjoying the moment. You’ll leave feeling energized, uplifted, and probably surprised by how much fun a workout can be.

Catch Ashley on Fridays at noon, and on weekends until the end of May! Then wish her well as she moves to Calgary!
